Hi! I’m
Mauro Turatti, photographer specialized in Food and Still Life images. I have been working in Advertising and Editorial since 2004. My Bio are my images, but if you want to know more read on below.

Born in 1979, I grew up in a big hotel overlooking Lake Maggiore run by my father (barbecue master) and my mother (gourmet cook). My roots come from there: passion for nature, for food, and the pleasure of “well done”. My first love ever was the hammer: smashing pieces of the hotel at age 4 was my favorite game.

Surprisingly, however, a curious uncle and lover of photography first introduced me to what would become my next passion: photography.

During high school I started working in small photography studios, which allowed me to keep my dream alive during the boredom in school.
It was a start and I already knew it wouldn’t be enough. In the meantime, the year of the military service arrived: Florence became my new home and I joined the photographic department of the army. I discovered that I enjoyed being a paratrooper almost as much as using the hammer, but photography continued to remain my goal.

I finally had the chance to cultivate my dream, enrolling in a prestigious school of photography in Milan. For three years I was an assistant in the studio of a couple of photographers: she is specialized in Food and Still Life, he in Portraits and Reportage. It was the perfect conclusion to my apprenticeship.

It was 2004 and it was time to take a risk. I was very young, but determined: I opened my first photographic studio, starting to approach the world of Advertising photography in Milan. However, I had underestimated an obstacle: my face was too young, which made me appear even younger than I really was. But I was able to earn the trust of those who were working with me for the first time. The early years as a professional photographer flew by quickly, as did the years of my two children, born during that time.
In 2010 my career was on its way and I had created a respectable portfolio working for the biggest Italian clients and winning important pitches.
In the meantime, however, the world of photography had changed and I realized that photography seemed to be no longer enough: digital was becoming a new reality.

So I decided to open a new business involving Mattia Giani, a young post-producer who was at the beginning of his career: HYPERACTIVE STUDIO was born.
For ten years I have enjoyed creating images that have allowed us to achieve great results and some awards.

In 2020, a new awareness pushes me to set new goals: I decided to close Hyperactive Studio and open a new business creating flexible work teams that share passion, soul and spirit of research. We are not executors of a task, we are professionals who love what they do and have the sole purpose of doing it well.
